Computer Usage in the Library
The computers in the library are meant to be used for academic purposes only. Each student is required to sign a school-wide Acceptable Use Policy before they are allowed to have access to the school's computers. The library staff enforces that policy before, during and after school.
Some common violations of the Acceptable Use Policy include:
Sending and Receiving any personal e-mails, especially those containing content and/or language not appropriate in a school setting. The e-mail access was given to students so that they could e-mail schoolwork and research to themselves instead of printing. It also allows them to keep in contact with teachers and later helps with contacting colleges and other schools. They were never meant to be used for personal entertainment.
Looking up ways to get around Fayette County's security software to access websites that have been blocked. MySpace is a big one.
Wasting copy paper by printing out unnecessary materials (i.e. pictures for personal use or lyrics that are not part of an assignment) or wasting electronic bandwidth by playing computer games and downloading video clips that are not related to any school work.

Offensive or threatening material and e-mails can be printed and sent to appropriate authorities when necessary.
