Eastern Relays

On April 28, the senior-less TCHS track team traveled to UL's Cardinal park for the 2007 Eastern Relays.  This meet was the biggest meet of the season and attracted 3 outstanding teams from Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois (the coach from Illinois remembered Coach Breathett from the 80's when he ran high school track there!).   This meet was packed with outstanding times and marks.  the best athletes in the state were assembled.  Tates Creek was an invited team to this meet!  Here are our highlights

Girls 4x800m relay (Bridget Stichnot, Courtney Hatch, Madalyn Stichnot, and Betsy Goodin) placed 4th in the race behind Cincinnati's St Ursula state championship team, Male, and Eastern (last year's KY state champion)).  The beat teams from Assumption, Notre Dame, Daviess County, Owensboro . . . They are now ranked #4 in the state!

Boys 4x800m Relay (Ty Sparks, Josh Carter, Mark Flores, and Daniel Norman) placed 2nd behind DuPont Manuel. They set a school record and are now ranked 2nd in the state. The beat teams like Trinity, St. Xavier, Daviess, Male, Eastern, Henderson . . . .

Jasmine Franklin in the 100m hurdles.  Jasmine placed 3rd and set a school record!

Jasmine Franklin, Keyiyah Wells (8th grade), Stefani Hairston 8th grade), and Natasha Druggan in the 4x200m.  They placed 9th in the meet, but set a school record in the race.  The oldest girl on the team is 10th grader Natasha Druggan!

Daniel Norman in the 1600m run  placed 2nd.  He is now ranked 3rd in the state with his time of 4:29.  Brian Long of St X is ranked #1.  Brian is ranked #2 in NATION for the 2 mile.  Daniel is in good company.

Mark Flores in the 1600m run placed 8th, but was the best 9th grader in the race.  He set a personal record of 4:45.  That is the best time run by a freshman in all 12 years of my coaching.

Betsy Goodin in the 800m run placed 2nd with a time of 2:23.  That places her as the favorite to WIN a state championship in the 800m.  She is ranked #2 behind a girl that will probably not run the 800m at the state meet.  She also set a school record!
