2007 Re-Cap!
KHSAA State Track Meet
Congratulations to
BETSY GOODIN
for winning a state title in the 800m run. Betsy's time
of 2:18.44 was the best time in all classes! Betsy ran a
great race allowing the rabbit to go out too fast. Betsy tracked
her down on the final stretch and showed how smart of a runner she is
while she blew by her for the victory.
Our girls 3200m relay team placed 9th in the
meet with a very good time. The girl's team will come
back for years to come since none of the girls are seniors.
Included on the team is Bridget Stichnot, Courtney Hatch, Madalyn
Stichnot, and (state champion) Betsy Goodin. Bridget is the oldest
on the team (junior).
Bridget ran in the 3200m run and placed 10th with a time of 12:10.
Natasha Druggan surprised everyone in the
competitive 400m dash. Natasha qualified with the 2nd fastest time
and then finished 3rd over-all with a school record 59.11 time.
The boys performed equally as well.
The 3200m relay squad (James Coleman, Ty Sparks, Mark Flores, and Daniel
Norman) placed 7th over-all in the rough race where 3 runners fell down
in the middle of the race. Daniel Norman also placed 3rd in
the 1600m run with a time of 4:28 (b
eating
his PR). Senior Derrick Brown placed 2nd in the fun to watch Pole
Vault. There was a 3-way tie for 1st placed as none of the
vaulters could clear 14-6. The bar was moved down for a jump-off.
Derrick placed 2nd with a maximum height of 14-00.
The 2007 Season was filled with excitement. The boys brought home the Patriot Relay trophy and the girls brought home the regional runner-up trophy. Over 8 school records were set!!!! 7 of our athletes have graduated and will go on to college. James Coleman, Thomas Claggett, James Johnson, Kennie Logan, Derrick Brown, Alex Olson, and Julieanne Norman will all be moving on. Derrick Brown is the only senior who will compete at the collegiate level in the Pole Vault. Derrick is attending Butler University.
The 2008 season looks promising. We will start on December 3 with our indoor conditioning program.
