Welcome to the TCHS Track and Field alumni site. The goal of this page is to let every visiting person see what our former track and field athletes are doing. If you participated in track and field for TCHS, we would like your information (what you did after high school in track and field). Please email Coach Crosby with any information.
Derrick Brown (Pole Vault 2007)
Derrick is attending Butler University. He will be vaulting on their track and field team.
Ken Vereen (Sprinter - 2006)
Ken is attending the University of Kentucky and running on their track team. he has already competed in 2 indoor track meets running 50.60 and 50.20 in the 400m dash. Ken is no longer running track at UK
Thomas Spata (Long Distance-2005)
Thomas is attending Eastern Kentucky University. He was red shirted on the cross-country team but ran unattached in two meets. Thomas's PR is 29:50 on a 8K course. He plans to run the 800 and 1600 in indoor and the 800 and 1500 in outdoor. He advises anyone thinking of running cross-country in college to be ready for a steady diet of 800 repeats. Thomas has since dropped out of EKU's track and field program.
Tiffany Dumas (Discus/Shot-2005)
Tiffany received a partial scholarship at EKU to throw. She is currently ranked 8th in the OVC for the weight thrown and has already surpassed her high school bests in the shot. She is one of 2 throwers on EKU's women's track and field team. EKU Freshman Tiffany Dumas completed in the OVC Championships a couple of weeks ago and placed 2nd in the Discus throwing 140-02. Tiffany was a two-time KHSAA 3A champion in the discus (2004 and 2005). Tiffany graduated from Tates Creek High School. She was the only freshman in the top 6.
Derek Wright (Mid-Distance-2005)
Derek is Attending EKU and planning on running mid-distance indoor and outdoor. Working towards a scholarship for next season. Derek ran PR's of 11.38 in the 100m and 23.33 in the 200m dash at the 2005 Bluegrass State Games and was on the winning 4x100m relay team (43.85) at the BSG. Promises to have a great season and very optimistic about future running plans.
I completed my freshman season. I posted pretty good marks in the 200m and 400m (no more 800s!). I finished 7th in the 400m finals (49.81) at the OVC Championships and I anchored the 4x400m relay team to a 4th place finish. I've also been given a scholarship to run next season. I expect to improve on times and place higher in the OVC Championships and make it to NCAA regionals next spring.

Brittany Brown (Sprint/Pole Vault-2005)
Brittany is currently cheering for EKU on a full scholarship. She is contemplating vaulting for EKU's track and field team.
Allison Taylor (Sprints & Horizontal Jumps-2004)
Allison graduated TCHS Track and Field as an outstanding jumper as well as a cheerleader and soccer team member. Allison applied and was accepted into the prestigious Citadel. Allison was awarded a scholarship for running track and field at the Citadel. This scholarship will total more than $110,000! Allison competes in the multi-event events (pentathlon/decathlon) for her team. Allison broke 4 freshman records in javelin& jumping events & 3 School records. Allison was one of the top 3 women in points scored on the team indoor/outdoor seasons and at the Outdoor Southern Conference Championships. Allison placed 6th in Javelin Finals out of 28 girls & scored some points there too.
News from Allison:
2006... Outdoors, threw a season best 113’5” in the Javelin and placed fourth at the Clemson Invitational (4/8)... recorded the third-longest javelin throw in school history with a mark of 120’ 7” at the SoCon Championships, placing fourth and beating her old personal best by over seven feet.
2005... Was a member of the school record Distance Medley Relay team that posted a time of 13:49.72... set the school record in the long jump during the indoor season with a jump of 15-5.5... also indoors, set the 800m school record with a time of 2:47.06... during the outdoor season, set the school record in the triple jump... was a member of the school record 4x100m and 4x400m relay teams...
Emma Gailey (Pole Vault 2003)
Emma graduated Tates Creek High School in
2003. She is attending Bellarmine University, where she has earned a partial
athletic and academic scholarship. She is also the Captain of the Division II
Bellarmine Track & Field Team. As a Freshman, Emma placed 2nd at Indoor
Conference in the Pole-vault, naming her to the All- Conference Team. She won
Outdoor Conference, beating an undefeated Senior, and now holds the outdoor
Great Lakes Valley Conference record of 10' 11-7/8". Her sophomore year, she
placed second at indoor Conference, again naming her to the All-Conference Team.
During the outdoor season, she was the champion of the GLVC Conference, once
again. She is the 2004 and 2005 Women's Outdoor MVP. In 2006, Emma is
red-shirting the season, so she can further her academic career. She's majoring
in accounting and she is interning full-time at Deloitte & Touche, in
Louisville, KY. This is one of the Big 4 firms in the U.S. Emma will rejoin the
Bellarmine Track Team in 2007, where she will have two more years of eligibility.
Patrick Hammond (Long Distance-2003)
Patrick graduated in 2003. He attended Murray State University during the 2003-04 school year and competed on both the cross-country and track teams. In track he competed in the 3000 meter steeplechase. While at Murray he made the dean's list. He transferred to Western Kentucky University for the 2004-05 school year after Murray St. disbanded it's men cross-country and track programs. He was red shirted for cross-country, but participated on the track team, where he once again competed in the 3000 meter steeplechase. This fall he is expected to be one of the top four members on their cross-country team. This summer he finished in 20th place overall in the Bluegrass 10,000 with a personal best time of 35:49, in late July he competed in his first triathlon and finished fifth in his age group, and in August finished 13th overall with a time of 16:33 in A Midnight's Summer Run. He is really enjoying Western and being a part of the great distance running tradition the school has established.

Eric Slaymaker (Long Distance/Pole Vault-2003)
Eric is attending EKU and participated on the cross-country and track teams. Events include pole vault (pr: 15'6), 800m (pr 1:58:58), cross- country (8k pr 30:11:45) Eric is now retired from just running. In June of 2005, Eric started biking, and training for triathlons. His first tri placed 6th in age. First decathlon placed 10th overall out of 130. Placed second in age in second tri, and 6th overall in another. (pr in a 12 mile bike race: 27min 30sec. pr in 800m swim: 12min 42secs. pr in 5k run in a triathlon: 18:03) Eric is now a tri-athlete and cyclist. He plans to be the youngest person to complete a major iron man by the beginning of next year. He bikes with the pedal the planet team, and if his tri times are showing improvement he'll possibly be getting sponsored soon. On November 13th, 2005, he'll be competing in the Florida international triathlon (ranked in the top 7 international tri race in the US). his goal is to win his age group.
Danielle Gage (Hurdles-2003)
Tony LoRe' (sprinter 2002)
Tony is attending the Army. He is not running track and field officially, but has clocked a 47 second 400m during a training challenge from his drill sergeant.
