Feb 21 Update!
It took me 1 hour and 45 minutes to travel from Richmond to UK on Saturday. I saw over 10 accidents on my way, but the slow travel was well worth it. Our TCHS athletes shined at the KY Invitational. This meet was packed with some of the best athletes in the nation. Over 10 states were represented in this meet. There were some national bests! We had many top 10 performances.
Laura Futch placed 4th out of 14 in the high jump (5-2). She was also the BEST Kentucky high jumper!
James Johnson placed 7th out of 19 in the high jump (6-0). He was the 2nd best high jumper in the state. Not bad considering this was the first time he was high jumped since June!
Derrick Brown placed 8th in the Pole Vault (12-0) out of 15. he has already reached his personal best height from last year. He is the best AAA pole vaulter in the state!
Ken Vereen placed19th out of 35 in the 400m dash. Why would I mention this performance? The top 14 athletes were nationally ranked. Ken was also the best 400m sprinter in the state.
Our 1600m relay squad once again dominated all other KY schools. We placed 8th, behind the top schools in the nation.
Our next meet is in Columbus Ohio.
